Ariel
I had a lot of Disney Princesses from the Renaissance to choose from, but Ariel has been my favourite since I was small. As a very bookish child, you would think it would be Belle - no. It was the redheaded mermaid who chose love and bravery over everything else. I loved learning about new things and new places as she did but most of all I loved swimming. I wanted to be a mermaid and I had Ariel everything - bedsheets, curtains, dolls, you name it, I had it. The first game I had for myself on Gameboy Color was a port of The Little Mermaid from the SNES; so you could say she paved the way for me being a gamer too.
Of course, I'm much older now and have a lifetime of favourites that have come and gone but she was the very first. And that makes her very special. [Ariel / The Little Mermaid]
