[Final Fantasy XIV Spoilers] I am not immune to catboy - although I must confess I did not care a wit about him during the Crystal Tower raids. And the thing was, I knew about the Shadowbringers twist, and I wondered how this man had captured the hearts of so many players. And during Shadowbringers, he successfully took mine too.
The Crystal Exarch embodies all of my favourite traits and tropes. He has such a gentle strong will that's unyielding. It's the slow and steady sacrifice for a future he will not get to see and the worst part of it is that he has to put his vaunted hero, his inspiration, through an impossible task that only they are able to perform yet still will not succeed at. Thus he pretends to be a villain, to make it easier for the Warrior of Light to let him go.
By the time you leave the First, I was in tears. At the end of the universe when he gives you the vocals and a crystal path to walk to the end, I broke down in tears and cried on the floor for twenty minutes in my living room. It was about that point I realised I really really liked this catboy and that I did ship my WoL with him. You're welcome, G'raha. [G'raha Tia / Final Fantasy XIV]
