yours will be

a happy future

this strength serves more than me alone

Awakening is the third of the trifecta of games in the early 2010s featuring time travel that I absolutely [adore] - and was the first time I really liked all of the primary lords. Marth in particular has always been a sticking point for me. A masked Marth did not instill me with confidence whilst Awakening was being promoted, but a popular theory at the time was that this masked Marth was a woman, and so I cautiously went in with an open mind.

What I didn't expect was Lucina. Whilst Chrom and Robin are the protagonists, Chrom in particular is not given a narrative that plays to his strengths: but they are Lucina's. She is the true heroine, who hails from a broken future and her only choice was to brave going back in time to pick apart the events that would set the world on this path. She has so much resolve and through so much despair she is yet full of so much hope. She fails, but she gets back up again every time. She has to be strong, she cannot be weak: she would sacrifice everything, including herself, for a chance to give the people she loves and all Ylissean's happiness. Lucina is very much a classic Rems character, and I love her dearly. [Lucina / Fire Emblem: Awakening]
